Polymer Processing

The Polymer Processing Laboratories are housed in the Research Center for Science and Technology at Clark Atlanta University.  The laboratories provide for characterization of composites and polymer materials.  Processing capabilities include extrusion, batch mixing, blending, alloying, compression molding, sheet and film extrusion and autoclave processing.  In addition the facilities provide for composites processing via hand lay-up autoclave, Resin Transfer Molding (RTM), Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Molding (VARTM) and compression molding techniques.  The quality of the composites can be ascertained by use of the on site c-scanning equipment.  Thermal, physical and mechanical properties can also be determined.
